Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how Pollar ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, retains, shares and protects information when you use our website and services (the "Service"). The Service is operated from Hyogo, Japan. For inquiries, contact: [email protected].
1. Overview
Pollar is a polling and opinion-aggregation platform. We do not store raw IP addresses or names. We may collect and store derived and aggregated data (for example, country code, region, city, device information, and aggregated demographic statistics) for analytics, product improvement, reporting and, where permitted, sale of anonymized/aggregated datasets.
2. Information We Collect
- Voting data: your selection for a two-choice question (A or B).
- Geographic data: country code, region/state, and city derived from IP via GeoIP. (We do not keep raw IPs.)
- Device information: device type (mobile/desktop), browser and operating system strings.
- Session & cookie identifiers: used to prevent duplicate anonymous votes and improve UX. These identifiers are retained for up to 30 days and are not included in datasets sold externally.
- Optional demographic attributes: age group and gender if voluntarily supplied by the user (used only in aggregated/anonymous form).
3. How We Use the Information
- To operate the Service (record votes, display results, prevent作弊/fraud).
- To generate aggregated analytics and reports (e.g., country-level or demographic-level percentages).
- To improve the Service, debug issues, and secure the system.
- To provide aggregated, anonymized datasets to third parties under strict contractual terms (see Section 6).
4. Data Retention
We may retain individual vote records and derived geographic/device attributes for an indefinite period for research, analytics, and historical reporting. Session and cookie identifiers are retained for a maximum of 30 days and are purged automatically after that period.
5. Aggregation, Anonymization & Data Sales
We may share only aggregated and anonymized attribute datasets (for example, "20s females — X% chose A"). Any dataset shared or sold will exclude identifiers such as cookie IDs, session keys, raw IP addresses, usernames or email addresses.
Prior to any sale, recipients must enter into a binding agreement prohibiting any attempt at re-identification (a non-reidentification agreement). We require reasonable technical and contractual safeguards from buyers.
6. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies (including Google Analytics) to provide functionality, measure usage, and improve the Service. We also plan to display advertising (e.g., Google AdSense).
【Notice Regarding Google AdSense】
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
Google's use of the DoubleClick cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and/or other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
We will provide user controls and a consent mechanism for cookie-based tracking where required by local regulation.
7. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we collected data from a child under 13, contact us to request deletion.
8. Your Rights
You have rights concerning your personal data, including the right to access, correct, and request deletion. Requests should be sent to [email protected].
Limitation of Rights for Anonymous Data:
Because Pollar is an anonymous service that does not store persistent personal identifiers (like email or username) and does not store raw IP addresses, we are technically unable to fulfill requests for individual access, correction, or deletion of specific vote records or session data, as we cannot verify your identity or locate your specific data among the aggregated records. We can, however, delete any submitted questions if requested. We will respond to all requests within a reasonable period (typically within 30 days).
9. Third Parties & International Transfers
We may use third-party services (e.g., Google for charts, analytics, ads). These providers may collect and process limited information when you use the Service. By using the Service you consent to such providers' use of data as described in their respective policies.
10. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Japan. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post changes on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
